This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "Joseph House". The Joseph House is a dream come true. A man of modest means, Grandpa Joseph promised his wife and mother of their six children that "someday I'll build you a castle". It took longer than he'd hoped, but true to his word, he built the house himself with help from local carpenters. That was many years and two generations ago. Today, lovingly restored to its original grandeur, the Joseph House is still in the family. Granddaughter Rosalie and her husband Tom enjoy both the home and its heritage. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. It is marked "1992,Geo.Z. Lefton.,00718, Joseph House". It lights from the back which includes a cord with a nightlight-type bulb and an on/off switch for ease in turning it off and on. This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "King's Cottage". This cozy Southern Colonial style was one of the favorite homes in the Village. Its steeply pitched, dormered roof gave it a charm that larger, more imposing houses lacked. Over the years, it attracted a series of studious owners who found a refuge for reading in the bed- room converted to a library, complete with floor to ceiling bookshelves. Even when all the other lights in the Village are off, you're still likely to see the glow from that room and know someone's engrossed in a story. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. There- fore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. It is marked "1986,Geo. Z.Lefton,05890". It lights from the back which includes a cord with a nightlight-type bulb and an on/off switch for ease in turning it off and on. This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "The Kirby House". This was a "Members Only" building. It was available only through dealers who were members of the Colonial Village Realtors' Association(CCRA). The Kirby House was retired in 1994. The Kirby's were part of an influx of Colonial Villagers that created growth and prosperity. Newcomers created demand for goods and services and opportunities for themselves. Ken Kirby was a locksmith by trade and the only one for miles around. His services were in demand from the day he arrived with his wife, Kathy, and their offspring: Ken, Jr., Kim, Kyle, and Kate. Even their dog, a Scottie, was names Kiltie. Rather than trying to keep all the names straight, folks them the "K's"....a nickname that stuck. Ken always came to the rescue when folks locked themselves out of their houses or youngsters locked themselves in the bathroom. As the chief of police said "It's a good thing he's a God-fearin', law-abidin' man 'cause there's not a locked foor he can't open. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "Lakehurst House". Like most young couples, when Adam Hurst and Nancy Lake were married, they dreamed of building a home. They worked hard. With a modest loan and a small inheritance, they built their dream house. It was a simple, two-and-a-half story frame structure with a dormer and intersecting gable. To honor their families, they called it "Lakehurst". "Lakehurst" is the second Limited Edition in the Colonial Village Collection. Only 4500 were authorized to be crafted. This is #3360/4500. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. There is some flaking of the paint on the roof. It is marked "Limited Edition, 1992, Lakehurst, by Lefton, 3360/4500". This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "Law Office". They say every cloud has a silver lining. Morton Manchester discovered that after campaigning for mayor of Colonial Village. Although the voters did not elect him to office, the exposure has brought him more clients for his law practice, the first in the Village. The law office is a fine example of Gothic Revival. Decorated vergeboards emphasize the steeply pitched roof gables and pull the eye into the detailing of the arched porch. The distinctive win- dow crowns, called drip-molds, deflect water from the window frame, keeping it from coursing down the face of the building. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in very good condition. It includes the Deed of Title. A lovely addition to your own Christmas Village.
This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "Village Library". The library's opening in 1876 was an auspicious occurrence. Not only did the event coincide with the nation's centennial, it marked the cultural coming of age of the community. Few towns the size of Colonial Village could boast a building solely devoted to works of literature. Building the library proved faster than filling it with bound books. Villagers donated their own precious volumes and formed a book-a-month club. Members each pledged to donate enough to buy a dozen new editions annually. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. The "Li'l Red Schoolhouse" you've read about wasn't fiction. It really did exist, as you can see, right here in Colonial Village. Built to replace what had been a "temporary" school for twenty years, community volunteers constructed it to last a long time--and it has. They not only raised the building but built the desks and benches for the classroom. Up- stairs, they created cozy living quarters for the univer- sity-trained schoolmistress they'd recruited. Lodging was considered part of the pay in those days. It is in excel- lent condition. It is marked "1986,Geo.Z.Lefton.,05821". It lights from the back which includes a cord with a night- light-type bulb and an on/off switch for ease in turning it off and on. This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "Main Street Church". Main Street Church is, by Colonial Village standards, new. It was built after the turn of the century, just after 1901. The story of how it came to be is bittersweet. On the same site, for almost a century, another church stood. It was of frame construction, as were most built at the time, with a tall steeple and an iron cross. Although it had precautionary lightning arrestors, it was the victim of an electrical storm that hit and leveled the steeple. The resulting fire demolished the rest of the building to the foundation. The neighboring First Church invited the congregation to share their building 'til a new one could be constructed. Parishioners from each of the other houses of worship took up collections to help raise money so they could start rebuilding as soon as pos- sible. That Christmas Eve, in appreciation for their help and generosity. the Main Street Church hosted a thank-you service for all the town's congregations. They came by the hundreds to celebrate the season in ecumenical spirit that still exists among the different faiths in Colonial Village. The building had to provide a friendly welcome, not just be imposing architecturally. The result achieved both. It was more picturesque than pretintious. This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Collection. It is called "Old Time Station". When the first iron horses came whinnying their way into town, reined only by rails, they stopped at the Old Time Station. Rail- roads quickened the pace of life, making it possible to cover distances in days that took wagons weeks. The speedy steel steeds carried more, faster, farther and cheaper.
