LEFTON "COLONIAL VILLAGE"
"GREYSTONE HOUSE" (RETIRED,1995)

Lefton Colonial Village - Greystone House - Retired-1995

This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Series. It is called the "Greystone House". It was retired in 1995. Homes like the Greystone owe much to their French origin. The Mansard roof, named for the Parisian designer, is a case in point. The nearly vertical roof face, topped with a flat ceiling, made the upper floor more useable. Fashion followed function and the style was enormously popular in the late 1800's. The Cooks, who built the house, space for the extended family of eight was more important than style. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. It is marked "1987, Geo. Z. Lefton.,06339". It lights from the back which includes a cord with a nightlight-type bulb and an on/off switch for ease in turning it off and on. It has the Lefton gold crown label and the red and gold foil label. It measures approx- imately 6-3/4" wide, 9" tall. It is in its original box and the Title of Deed is included. LEFTON "COLONIAL VILLAGE"
"GULL'S NEST LIGHTHOUSE" (RETIRED)

Lefton Colonial Village - Gull's Nest Lighthouse - Retiredsold

This is one of the many houses, buildings, figurines, and accessories in the Colonial Village Collection. It is called "Gull's Nest Lighthouse". Built in the early 1800's, before electricity, the lighthouse that marked the bay, and warned of a sandbar, was illumi- nated by an oil lamp. That meant the lighthouse keeper in those years--a reclusive man named Miles O'Keefe was the "keeper of the flame" rather than simply the custodian of the structure. His was an important, if solitary job. He fueled the lamp, trimmed the wick and polished the prisms that magnified and mirrored the light. He did it faithfully, seven days a wek for fifty-five years. Since Lefton has changed ownership, this collection is no longer being produced. Therefore, this series is no longer available in the retail market except for pieces that they just happen to have in stock. It is in excellent condition; no cracks, chips, or repairs. It is marked "1988, Geo.Z.Lefton.,6747". It is has the Lefton gold crown label and the red and gold foil label is also still attached. It is in its original box and packing and the Deed of Title is also included. It mea- sures approximately 8-1/2" tall, 6-3/4" wide at the base. A fun addition to your own Christmas Village.
